Burg Records Burg Records

Every record this site obtains, published in full.

Burg Records is an independent archive of public records requests filed with the City of Miamisburg, Miamisburg City Schools, and neighboring jurisdictions in Montgomery County. It is not affiliated with any government body.

Each request is posted here as it was sent, alongside every reply received and every document produced. Nothing is summarized in place of the record itself. When an agency withholds material, the stated exemption is published next to the response so readers can judge it for themselves.

Ohio law entitles any person to inspect public records, and agencies must respond within a reasonable period of time. Tracking those responses in public is the point of this site.

Why these requests are anonymous

Every request published here is filed without identifying the requester. Ohio law permits this: under R.C. 149.43(B)(4), a public office may not deny a request because the requester declines to disclose their identity or the intended use of the records, except to the limited extent that identity is necessary to locate or deliver them. The reason for using it is narrower than the law requires. This is a small city, and the people responding to these requests are neighbors, acquaintances, and in some cases friends. A request that arrives without a name is answered on its terms rather than on the requester's. Nothing is expedited as a favor and nothing is produced beyond what the statute compels, which is the only condition under which a response means anything.

The intent is not to conceal an adversary but to remove a variable - a record produced because of who asked for it proves nothing about what any other resident would receive. This site takes positions, and the requests themselves make arguments about what the law requires. Those arguments belong in the correspondence, where they can be read and answered. They do not belong in the decision about what gets produced.

How to use this archive

01

The home page leads with whichever request is most active, followed by an index of all of them. Every request has a permanent number and URL you can cite.

02

Open a request to read it exactly as it was sent, follow the reply thread, and download the records produced.

03

Reuse anything here. Records obtained under Ohio law are public; the text of requests is free to copy for your own filings.
